Steve McBride focuses on mediating divorce cases, providing financial support and analysis to couples going through collaborative divorce or mediation, and in supporting individuals on the financial aspects of pro se and litigated divorce cases. In addition to working with clients directly as a financial analyst and mediator, he supports attorneys and other mediators in helping clients reach equitable financial solutions. Steve qualified as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst in 2003, and since then has been trained in collaborative divorce, business valuation, early neutral evaluation, mediation and advanced family law issues. He has been accepted as an expert witness on divorce financial matters by Douglas County District Court.Steve is passionate about helping his clients understand the financial implications of their divorce and to prepare financially for their future. He combines logic, skill, compassion, calm - with a bit of humor - to help his clients work through the difficult issues of their divorce. He understands the stress and grief that accompany divorce, and also that many people need considerable support when going through the divorce process. Steve is a member of two collaborative law practice groups (Denver and Boulder), a Professional Mediator recognized by the Colorado Council of Mediators, a Patron of the Colorado Bar (and a member of the Family Law Section and the ADR Section), a practitioner member of the Association of Conflict Resolution, a member of the Institute of Divorce Financial Analysts, and a Board Member of Colorado CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). He has written a number of articles on divorce and is a contributor to Collaborative Divorce: Helping Families Without Going to Court, by Forrest S Mosten (Jossey-Bass, 2009). He was a regular contributor to Divorce Edition on divorce financial and tax issues.
Steve holds a BS from Nebraska
Wesleyan University and an MPIA from the University of
Pittsburgh. His previous career was in management
consulting, working with businesses, public sector organizations
and not-for-profits to help them improve performance through
better leadership, people development and planning. |
